40 OFFICE DRESS CODE YOU SHOULD FOLLOW (31-40)

020 - Office Dress Code (Part 4/4)

(Continue from project upgrade from Part 3)

31. Stay inside the lines: Cords is as comfy as jeans and more chill than trousers.

Style 4 Gents: Always explore your options

32. Leather low top sneaker, no busted running shoes.

Style 4 Gents: When in doubt, always black shoes, no sneakers. Leather material is the closest level to your regular dress shoes. Keep it plain.

33. Just because your co-worker is wearing a nice suit doesn't mean he has a job interview.

Style 4 Gents: Although he is likely to get hired if he knows how to dress it right on the daily basis.

34. The all purpose tie knot - The four in hand

Style 4 Gents: I was raised to tie the double but sure this will work.

35. 63% of men with significant others let their better halves buy their work clothes for them. At least have an opinion.

Style 4 Gents: Generally consensus is, your style is bad. You don't care about it until someone step in your life. However, the modern society says, it is still sweet to let the person decide for you. But you should not be clueless. Your style defines yourself, so when you dress stupid, blame yourself.

36. Work bags don't have shoulder strap. Leather brief, leather and canvas tote, or even a zip-folio.

Style 4 Gents: Sure it will take a long while before men can feel comfortable carrying a zip-folio walking on the street. There are options for people with different needs. You can still carry a messenger and not look like a high school student. The key? The material. Pick the grown up material like leather.

37. Dress like a boss. Choose wisely from tv inspirations.

Style 4 Gents: Or just follow us.

38. Beware of bosses wearing jeans. He is always your boss, not your pal.

Style 4 Gents: When he dresses down, he is still the guy you always hate. Period.

39. No logos larger than a nickel. Not your belt, your shirt, your gym bag. Even if it's your company's logo. No, especially if it's your company's logo.

Style 4 Gents: If you are still obsessing to show off designers' logo, you are hopeless.

40. Parting advice: The idea here is to dress like the best version of yourself. If the best version of yourself doesn't fit in at your office, then maybe you're in the wrong office.

Style 4 Gents: We believe in the results of enhancing your self esteem and confidence when you show off the best side of you. You will also work hard to live up to the image that you build up for yourself. ALWAYS DRESS UP.

40 OFFICE DRESS CODE YOU SHOULD FOLLOW (11-20)

018 - Office Dress Code (Part 2/4)

GQ magazine released the 40 rules of thumb for the guys (based on an interview of 1000 gents) dressing up at the office. We are going to break down each rule and tackle every single one. Let us know your thoughts and comment below.

11. Loosen tie? Don't do it!
Style 4 Gents: Either tie on or tie off. You wanna be that guy who acts like you don't care? Leave it at the sports bar.

12. You have a responsibility to represent the company through your style. You're the business card in that moment.
Style 4 Gents: It's your name on the business card. No reason you will do something degrading yourself.

13. Know what your dress shirt is saying.

Point: You've had your job since 2011 and this shirt since 1994.

Button Down: You're putting that liberal-arts degree to good use.

Semispread: You're two years ahead on your five-year career plan.

Cutaway spread: Your last gig was as an usher at the royal wedding.

Style 4 Gents: Basically GQ is saying higher the collar, better the style. We have not found the statistically relevance, but we do want to point out the narrower the space between the collar point, the more up tight you appear to be.

14. 36% of guys said their favorite suit color is black

Style 4 Gents: You should have at least 1 to 2 black suits. Afterwards, go for different shades of gray suits.

Project Upgrade (The business causal office)

First of all: Business causal = Suits minus jacket

15. Mix-and-Don't Match: Play with shirt and tie patterns. Make sure scales are different.

Style 4 Gents: For starter, keep either shirt or tie in plain and trade the other with patterns. Then you can play mix-and-match on different medium. Practice makes perfect. Tips? Keep it in the similar color tone.

By Paul Ramos

16. Matte it down: Keep belt buckle small

Style 4 Gents: Unless you are the cast of Big Bang Theory

17. Catch a bad break: No more puddling pants

Style 4 Gents: It's only acceptable at skiing outfits.

18. Go shrink yourself: No oversized shirt

Style 4 Gents: One way I determine if the shirt is fit to the body is by looking at the buttons after you try on the shirt. When it seems like they are stretching a lot and seemingly popping out, then it's too tight and you need to size it up. If you notice the fabric is sagging and there's no trace of your body shape. Then you need to size it down or look for a better fit. Classic fit or slim fit is really about bringing the best side of your body shape, not the mis-conceptional gay side.

19. 'Watch' this: Work proper timepiece means a leather strap and simple face

Style 4 Gents: We believe it's appropriate regardless it's metal strap or leather strap. Just save the plastic at sports day.

20. Punch Up Your Kicks: Suede bucks and colorful socks were made for business causal.

Style 4 Gents: Suede needs extra care because the material looks terrible and dirty when it touches water. But feel free to pair some colorful socks with your dress shoes. It's trendy, playful and office appropriate.

NORMAN REEDUS THE ZOMIE SLAYER

016 - Norman Reedus at the Gents Club

There are many good tv shows out there these days. Speaking of my favorite, it's gotta be the breakout zombie thriller - The Walking Dead. Norman, as Daryl Dixon the ruthless man who doesn't follow rules and give a shit of anyone's business, turns out to be the audience favorite out of all the characters. The experimental mini series (with only 6 episodes in the first season) quickly picks up the pace and turns into a full season TV show. Norman Reedus obviously charms its way with his unique character, the bad boy with a big heart to be discovered. When he is not dressing up country and holding a bow to shoot the brain out of zombies, he brings his gents style to the modern pre-acopolyse era.

We showed how wearing suit jacket with nothing is such a turn on (if not intimidating) in our past post. While you are unlikely to try it in the public, at least save the look for your loved one (or a classy selfie).

ZACHARY QUINTO x WINTER COAT SHOWCASE

#011 - Zachary Quinto's fall coat showcase

Zachary has recently done a photo shoot in New York City with luxury online retailer Mr Porter for their winter coats collection. Since the chilling cold has officially frozen our bones, there is no way we will be able to make it across town (or even blocks) without the appropriate protection. Here is the stylish presentation of the winter coat selections by the admirable Zachary Quinto.

By the way, love the Black and White tone pics.

Zachary Quinto is now playing a new show - The Glass Menagerie on Broadway. Read his latest interview with Mr. Porter here.

BLEND IN? OR STAND OUT? COLOR SPEAKS

#009 - The Contemporary Colors

Do you realize once we are in winter, our color options are drastically reduced? We can't wear light colors, no more white, ivory, but dark colors. At the end, we end up picking that navy blue jacket and black pants because it is just easy, mindless and it seems... 'appropriate'.

You are right, even designers tend to choose darken colors for their winter collections (Besides  Australia, Mexico, Brazil… the countries with no winter weather…). As popular (or boring) as navy blue and black are on the market, there are much more options out there. Of course, you can wear the same thing like everyone else on the street, or you can decide to show your taste of style beyond the safe choices. Like Matrix, a red pill or the blue pill… For our gents who are bold enough to explore and experiment, here are some classy styles that will keep the admiring attentions on you.

THE SEXY FRIDAY DRESS DOWN

#008 - Simple basics

Not everyone has the killer body to show off. Still a lot of us are hitting the gym, burn some fat, build some abs and gain extra two inches on the chest. Being bold is what makes you stand out from the pack. Get rid of the shirt between your body and the suit, then the only thing left is the fantasy to keep your date boiling inside out. Or keep it simple, pair a dark color tank top with the dark suits, no one can see through you, but they can feel the body heat passing thru that thin fabric. Now my gents, you just seal the deal for the Friday tonight.

Be sexy, because you can.

GENTS GUIDE FOR BOOTS MAINTENANCE

#005 - Chelsea Boots

Our respected gent, Tim Little, the CEO and Creative Director of Grenson has to say about keeping your boots look good.

Rule 1: The Right Pants Are Key
"You want a narrow pants bottom, so that the pants sit tight, just a little way up the leg of the boot. You need to see just enough of the elastic gusset to know it's a Chelsea boot—otherwise it just looks like a very plain shoe."
Rule 2: Invest In Shoes Trees
"They help shoes keep their shape, but they also stop them from cracking, because the leather doesn't crease as it dries out. If you can, try to find trees with a high instep, as the Chelsea's shape is all about that gorgeous curve running up the front of the boot from the toe."
Rule 3: Avoid Quick Fixes
"My pair goes back to the Grenson factory, where they are re-lasted. There are also some very good independent guys around—just be sure to ask if they put the boots on a last as they repair them. Most don't, so you end up with a nice new sole but a misshapen upper."
